CSR Initiatives

At Brahma Kumaris Om Shanti Retreat Centre, we believe that the essence of universal brotherhood, a world of peace, prosperity, and happiness, and the purity of heart and mind are all interconnected with the health and sustainability of our community and environment. True development cannot occur if the very foundation on which we thrive is deteriorating. Our core ideology emphasizes that outer development is intrinsically linked to inner purity, and vice versa.

Since its inception in 2003, Brahma Kumaris ORC has successfully implemented numerous CSR initiatives aimed at fostering a pure and healthy society and environment. Our holistic educational services and community outreach programs focus on various domains, including health, nutrition, hygiene (including preventive healthcare), environmental sustainability, sanitation, women empowerment, senior citizens, rural development, road safety, livelihood enhancement, drug de-addiction, child personality development, slum area development, and enhancing agricultural productivity.

Additionally, about 500,000 men, women, children, and senior citizens visit our campus each year to participate in various programs offered free of charge.

We are committed to preserving our planet. We’ve implemented eco-friendly practices across our operations, from reducing waste and energy consumption to supporting sustainable initiatives in our community.

Solar Power Generation Plant – India’s first megawatt-scale hybrid energy storage system for a solar-based microgrid at Om Shanti Retreat Centre in Haryana. The 1.094 MWh system combines 614.4 kWh of lithium and 480 kWh of lead-acid batteries, providing long-duration backup and ensuring seamless power transition during grid failures. This hybrid model reduces initial capital expenditure by 35-40% and supports India’s energy independence. The system integrates solar energy with advanced storage to enhance grid reliability, especially in remote areas.
Rain Water Harvesting Plant – Our rainwater harvesting plant has a capacity of over 2 crore liters per year, significantly contributing to water conservation efforts. By effectively managing and utilizing rainwater, we support environmental protection and ensure a reliable water supply for various needs throughout the year.

Sewage Treatment Plant – Over 5 lac guests visit the Om Shanti Retreat Center for various programs every year. Water is used for a variety of activities including washing, cleaning, cooking, gardening, etc. that are critical to facilitate smooth operation of these programs and stay of guests. It is therefore critical to conserve as much water as possible and use it very judiciously. This project would enable the reuse of wastewater by efficiently treating it and making it safe for use in activities like gardening, cleaning etc, thereby reducing the consumption of fresh water.
